My work experienceOn Monday the 4th of February I started my work experience at a local school called Charlton Manor Primary School this school caters for the needs of children between the ages of 3-11 but I worked in the reception class. I worked for 2 weeks with a class of 4-5 year old children teaching them to read and also having fun making glitter covered paintings and swords. Oh and they also found it hilarious to fill my pockets and shoes with sand when I wasn't looking!

I really enjoyed doing work experience at a primary school. All the staff were really great and I made some great friends also the children I worked with were very polite and surprisingly clever for their age! I especially enjoyed it when I worked with small groups of children and I taught them the phonics sounds or counting to 100 because by the end they had all learnt something new - It gave me a real sense of achievement. But of course I liked playing games and making things too! Sometimes in the afternoon everyone wanted to go outside playing tag or hide and seek with me so I'd end up running/hiding from about 20 kids!

On my first week everyone was learning about the story of Jack and the Beanstalk. So I helped the children make their paintings of the giant and also I read the story to the class. This week they focused mainly on their literacy skills so I assisted them when spelling out "Fee Fi Fo Fum" and the formation of the letters.
